Roerfontein residents have been ambushed by three armed robbers since this year, who go around robbing people their belongings such as money, cellphones as well as clothes.
On the 24th of June three robbers have mugged a man aged 22 his three cellphones, headphones, jacket, two usb flashes and seven hundred rands. The accident took place near the household of Lebepe and Selowa, No problem café street, Meretseng in Roerfontein, Ga-Mamaila village. “The robbers were armed with knives and I let them take whatever they wanted from me because they threatened to kill me”, said the victim. The victim further said “I have by chance managed to free my self from them and thereafter they ran away with my three cellphones, headphones, two usb flashes and a jacket”.
One of the cellphones that the three armed robbers managed to get away with it is nokia 2700, EMEI: 35624004693190. “The robbers smelled with dagga” said a victim. a case of robbery was opened the very same night.
During the very same month, the same accident occurred next to Sekgosese Taxi Rank and Hirrani clothing shop known as Indian shop (Maku**ng), where a woman aged 20 was mugged a hand bag and inside it there was a brand new female jean. “I was so lucky that they did not rape or hurt me” said the 20 year old victim.
The victim further said, “This three armed robbers did not realize that I was having a cellphone with me, if they knew, they would have taken it as well”. In addition the victim said, the robbers freed her when they have realized that someone was coming. “I have managed to recognize face of one of the robbers, but is someone that I don’t at all, but if I come across him, I will tell.”
The police were called to trail after this armed robbers, but they (robbers) were no where to be found. A case for robbery was not opened because by the time police arrived to the scene, the victim was already been left.
This month (October) on the 8th the same accident occurred, where two man were mugged cellphones and money from at separate accident by three armed man. This two man were mugged while they were on their from Mphebatho to their homes. The accident occurred exactly next to rethatbile wholesalers. “I did not believe it that I can be mugged at a very rural area like this, I have survived real tsotsis (robbers) at Gauteng province, and now I find my self trapped by rural tsotsis (robbers) that funny” said the victim. “the worse part is that the accident occurred few miles before I can get home” said an angry victim.
The accident occurred at about 01h00 am. People are adviced to walk in group during the night so that the can avoid been victims of crime. Anyone who have information that can help in tracking this robbers can please share the information with the plice.
People must also stop buying stolen goods because by so doing you can find yourself behind bars, if the police officers can find you in position of a stolen.
