Arson and Public violence suspects granted bail.

Patrick Phefadi and Jeffrey Webber from Senwamokgope township who are suspected of torching three houses belonging to "murder-suspect" were granted R1000 bail each today by Tiyani Magistrate court.

The third suspect was released on what is believed to be a "free bail". He did not make a formal court appearance today though he was present at court handcuffed and later released.

Some of the money that was used to pay for their bail is said to be the contributions of the community.

The legal representative of the suspects, Prince Mmola confirmed on local radio station that, their next court appearance is on the 7th of June at Senwamokgope Periodically Court.

Pastors and Bomme ba merapelo around limpopo province were on saturday recognized and appreciated by Sekgosese Community Radio [Seco FM] for successfully contributing in their religious programmes.

The ceremony was staged at The Look Community Hall at Soetfontein village where Seco fm is stationed [outside Modjadjiskloof].

According to one of the organizers, Sylvester Ramolefo (42) who is also a religious show presenter, about 20 pastors and 16 Bomme ba merapelo received certificates for successfully participating in the religious programmes of seco fm.

"We are a God fearing station that's we open our station with a sermon every morning from 06:00-06:15. Different pastors and bomme ba merapelo from different churches are given enough time slots on sundays and thursdays to spread the word of God through our radio", he concluded.

Some of the pastors who received certificates of recognition are from, Bungeni, Tzaneen, Polokwane, Roterdam and Sekgosese.

Pastor [Moyahabo] Mohale (54) on behalf of Pastors and Bomme ba merapelo said the certificates they had received will enable them to be formally recognized as pastors by various stake-holders.

"We are greateful to Seco fm because it is now easier to spread the word of God across people of Limpopo without going places", he added.

Tiny Masutha (34) who accompanied the pastors and Bomme ba merapelo to the ceremony said she is now motivated to become a pastor in the near future. She also said, people are now turning in to christians because seco fm promotes the word of God.

"We would like to thank Sewatumong Micro Lending for sponsoring this ceremony", said Seco fm's Programmes manager, Masilo Rabothata.

Rapists got what they deserve - Sekgosese SAPS

 "We are happy that two men both aged between 18-20 from Roerfontein village were found guilty by Sekgosese Magistrate Court for raping two 15-year-old girls", said Warrent Officer Mashao of Sekgosese SAPS.

 "... Tshepo Mkhize is sentenced 15 years in prison for rape and 2 years in prison for assault. Motlatso Maphere was also found guilty of rape and sentenced for 10 years in prison."

 "This will set a good example to other rapists out there", Mashao concluded.

 According to Mashao both Mkhize and Maphere raped two 15-years-old girls at Roerfontein village on 28th January 2011 and were found guilty and sentenced this month.

Yes to shopping complex- Mamaila villagers


People from Ga-Mamaila Kolobetona in Sekgosese area on wednesday finally took a resolution to have a shopping complex built in their area.

A community resolution was taken in the presence of developers (Zabasi Properties) and representativesu from Department of Rural Development and Land Reform. No one voted against building a shopping complex at Ga-Mamaila village.

Some of the political parties (ANC, COPE and UDM) who were present at the meeting said are happy about the development, however the building of a shopping complex must not be delayed.

Molly Gallant of Zabasi Properties said they are happy that the community did not oppose the plan to erect a shopping complex at their area.

"The 35% of profit made will go to the community and remaining 65% is for Zabasi Properties", she concluded.

It was said in the meeting that all the money belonging to the community will be placed in a Community Trust Fund then be used for community development.

Steps still needs to be taken:

• Department of Rural Development will then write a motivating letter to the Minister[this process may take a maximum period of 8 months].
• When the Minister approves, the Developer (Zabazi Properties) will then apply for town planning or re zoning the area from agricultural to business (it may take a maximum period of 12 months, depending on how the local municipality co-operates). Will also do visibility study.
• Then apply for environmental impacts assessment (may take maximum of 12 months)
• Therefore the construction work for shopping complex will begin. (the construction work may take 18-24 months to complete.

The shopping complex will be built at Skalplagte 108 NT around Ga-Mamaila village at an area that is 15 hectares in size.

Peter Mamaila, Secretary of Mamaila Tribal Authority said they as Tribal Authority are delighted with how the meeting went.

A car-bicycle-accident left two boys with injuries.

Two boys said to be Selamola sec school learners were rushed to Kgapane hospital on saturday after a qubeka-bicycle were riding on collided with a bakkie.

The accident is said to have occurred on a gravel road between Mphebatho and Chief Raphahlelo's place.

"The bakkie's wind-screen is shattered and the bonnet is worse. The bicycle fork and handle bar were disjointed from the rest of bicycle frame", said one of the people who had hastened to the scene immediately after the accident.

"One of the two boys[who were riding on the same bicycle] appeared to be critically injured and were both rushed to Kgapane hospital by an ambulance", said the eye witness.

The bicycle involved in the accident is one of 500 bicycles donated to 7 schools in Sekgosese East Circuit by Thusalushaka ADP and Qubeka.

Sekgosese SAPS investigates the death of 24-year-old man.

Sekgosese police on friday said  are busy with the investigations after a man(24) who went missing last month from Mahembeni, Ga-Raphahlelo village was found dead this week.

According to reports, the decomposed body of a 24-year-old Naphley Lehomo who went missing on 31st August (last month)was found hanging from a tree at the countryside around Kwatane, Ga-Phooko on thursday evening. The body was discovered by a herder as reported.

"...the body was found hanging from a tree...and the family confirmed the body as that of Naphley Lehomo", said Warrent 0fficer Maphalela Mashao, the Spokesperson of Sekgosese SAPS.

Mashao said they are now busy with the investigations.

A number of community meetings had been convened and some individuals have been somehow suspected of the missing and the death of Naphley Lehomo.

Headman Ramaremela of Ga-Raphahlelo (Mahembeni) Village appealed to community members not to take law in to their hands but to help the police with the investigations.
